We made a conversation with SiNNER MOON, a young man who promises to break all the schemes that marked Taiwanese hip hop. After his debut at the SXSW 2023, the «wonder boy» was one of the most representatives of the new Taiwanese musical scene that captivated the American audience. His thrilling language twist between English and Mandarin along with an exceptional show make him a diamond being polished to get shiner. (Available in English).

After he received a great ovation from the audience, Taiwan Beats Showcase released a behind-the-scenes documental video with the best highlight performance shows from their six artists during their experiences at SXSW 2023. Thus, the event was an astonishing success connecting huge crowds being an attendance record with a luxury lineup, LÜCY, The Chairs, deca joins, SiNNER MOON, 9m88, and Elephant Gym.
Resonating with the most select ears, the young SiNNER MOON has been projecting a prominent Rap and Hip Hop musical career since 2020; although the musical critics and the press had already recognized his talent, SiNNER MOON would step forward to another level making a deal with his new label, NXWV (2021) to create a rap duo called Wolf Pacc with the veteran artist Peatle, establishing the first Trap Metal band in the Taiwanese Hip Hop scene.
With a proposal full of youthful force, shocking lyrics, and revolt aesthetics, this artist seeks his own style and originality. We leave you with this exclusive and special interview that connects Taiwan to our Latin American fandom throughout Bunka Wave.
Bunka Wave. Thank you very much to accept our interview. How did you start your musical career?
SiNNER MOON. I started off as a member in my uni’s hip hop club. Turns out it don’t work for me, but i did meet my producer Gunta there. Later, we met my other producer ScareCrowTST who happened to study in the uni next to us. We were making music in ScareCrow’s crib. I spent days couch surfing there, making songs after songs. And the rest is history.
B.W. What inspires you to compose and make music?
S.M. I’m a sensitive person. In fact, I overthink a lot. My inspiration comes from the events happening around me and people I meet. I just pour all my feelings in my songs (laughts).
B.W. How does it feel to be with other talented artists at NXWV?
S.M. Overall, it’s a good experience. I get to learn from them. We make different music so we perform in different ways. They’re all my senseis. I learn a lot through their sets and my convos with them.
B.W. What can you tell us about your experience at SXSW 2023 and your shows in the United States?
S.M. It’s better than I imagine. People in the US showed me love all the time. Even the bartender pulled up and told me I did a good show. And I’ve never been to music festivals like SXSW. There are shows everywhere. First, you’re in a rap set. Next, you find yourself in a hardcore set on the other side of the streets. I’m more than willing to go back next year. There’s so much for me to experience there.
B.W. What is your vision about the Taiwanese music scene around the world in the present day?
S.M. I think we can do better. At least we need better promotion. There are artists in Taiwan who I think are capable of making big scenes worldwide. We make music not only for people in this country but folks all over the world. I hope one day we all get to do tours overseas.
B.W. Do you know any Latin American bands or musicians? If not, what would you like to learn about music in Latin America?
S.M. I’ve always been a big fan of Bad Bunny. I started listening to him right after he released X 100PRE. I want to get to know more about the hip hop scenes in Latin America.
B.W. What Taiwanese musical projects do you recommend?
S.M. My big dawg Peatle had this iconic projects called Kamikaze. He released it in 2013 and it immediately became a cult classic. Try it. I bet you’ll like it!
B.W. What are you plans for this year?
S.M. I’m planning to collaborate with rappers in Japan and the US. My first studio album is also in the works as well. I just have to add a few more touches to it and shoot couple music videos. It’s going to be crazy I swear!
B.W. Could you please leave a message for all our audience?
S.M. No worries if you’re making waves all by yourself. The moon does it all the time.
B.W. Finally, you send us a greeting to Bunka Wave in Colombia and Latin America.
S.M. Greetings Bunka Wave in Colombia and Latin America! I hope I get to meet you guys in the future. May the force be with you all the time!
