Closing this year, The Shamisenist just released PLAY! before the Thanksgiving Break in a digital format. Check their MV «Holiday» on YouTube. The band will play for Asian Music Day produced by Bunka Wave this December to say farewell 2022!
The Shamisenists released their new album PLAY! on digital music stores on November 22nd, 2022. The band also launched a special video showing ‘Holiday with Irochi from Minyo Crusaders’ from that album, along with some photos from the recording session on Nov 23rd.
The CD of the album will drop in mid-December 2022, and The band will hold the album release event at the MoonRomantic in Tokyo on February 3rd.
The album producer is tatsu, known as the bassist of LÄ-PPISCH and others. The recording engineer is Naoki Endo, a musician, arranger, and composer. The upcoming album also features the keyboard sounds of Satoshi Kimura, who has been a supporting member since the single SAKURA released on 28 March 2022. It will also include re-arranged versions of previously released songs.
Lead shamisen player and band leader JACK says: «Many of the songs were created with the energetic soundscape of the period around 1990 in mind, when rock and street culture were mixed together “.
