Taiwan Beats Showcase es una iniciativa del Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development (BAMID), dependiente del Ministerio de Cultura de Taiwán, que busca promover el talento musical taiwanés a nivel internacional. Bajo el lema de este año, “Connection” (Conexión), el evento celebró el espíritu de SXSW: construir redes dentro de la industria musical global y promover un intercambio cultural auténtico y enriquecedor.
El evento arrancó con una Day Party que incluyó las actuaciones de la banda de rock japonesa Enfants y la rapera malaya Zamaera. En paralelo, se llevó a cabo el foro TAICCA Meet-Up, donde profesionales de la industria musical internacional debatieron sobre los desafíos y oportunidades que enfrentan los artistas asiáticos al entrar en el competitivo mercado norteamericano.
La velada musical comenzó con la cantautora HSIEN CHING, quien presentó temas de su más reciente álbum If Every Day Could Be Happy Happy, Who’d Want Sad, acompañada del productor Sōryo. Luego, la artista de neo-soul enmascarada ?te (Whyte) ofreció un set que rompió barreras de género musical, consolidando su evolución artística tras sus pasos por el Reeperbahn Festival en Alemania y el City Music Festival en Bangkok. La joven promesa del pop Andr aportó frescura y fue también invitada al International Night Showcase oficial de SXSW, donde compartió escenario con talentos emergentes como Luv de Japón y Paris Death Hilton, destacando por su presencia escénica.
Por su parte, la cantautora Enno Cheng regresó al escenario de SXSW tras la pandemia, presentando nuevas canciones de su próximo álbum Moon Phases, con una sensibilidad creativa que trasciende idiomas. La banda de rock TRASH subió la energía con una actuación de nivel estadio, llena de fuerza y dinamismo. El broche de oro lo puso The Amazing Show, que cerró la noche con su inconfundible estilo cyber Taike, utilizando instrumentos creados por ellos mismos y dejando al público internacional completamente cautivado.
Tras su paso por Austin, varios de estos artistas ya están dejando huella fuera de Taiwán. ?te (Whyte) lanzó su nuevo sencillo Let Me Be Me, en colaboración con el músico japonés TENDRE, una exploración sonora sobre las relaciones intergeneracionales que formará parte de su próximo álbum previsto para septiembre. Mientras tanto, Enno Cheng continúa ampliando su presencia en Corea del Sur, donde recientemente estrenó el videoclip de su sencillo Rarely Think of It, grabado en Seúl, y tiene prevista una actuación en el Asian Pop Festival en ese país.

The Taiwan Beats Showcase is a music promotion project initiated by the Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development (BAMID), Ministry of Culture. With its 2025 theme «Connection,» Taiwan Beats Showcase reflected SXSW’s spirit of building industry relationships while fostering meaningful cross-cultural exchange.
The event kicked off with a Day Party, featuring performances by Japanese rock band Enfants and Malaysian rapper Zamaera. At the same time, the TAICCA Meet-Up forum was held, bringing together international music industry professionals to discuss the opportunities and challenges for Asian artists entering the North American music market.
The evening show kicked off with singer-songwriter HSIEN CHING, who performed selections from her latest album “If Every Day Could Be Happy Happy, Who’d Want Sad” alongside producer Sōryo. Masked neo-soul artist ?te followed with a genre-blending set, showcasing her continued evolution after appearances at Germany’s Reeperbahn Festival and Bangkok’s City Music Festival.
Rising pop artist Andr brought freshness to the lineup and also invited to participate in SXSW’s official International Night Showcase, where she shared the stage with international up-and-coming artists such as Luv from Japan and Paris Death Hilton, drawing attention as a standout performer.
Singer-songwriter Enno Cheng returned to SXSW post-pandemic, sharing new material from her upcoming album ”Moon Phases“, demonstrating her rich creative energy that transcends language. Rock band TRASH delivered a high-spec, stadium-level performance, thrilling the crowd with their dynamic presence. The night closed with a stunning performance by The Amazing Show, who used self-made instruments to present their signature «cyber Taike» style, leaving a lasting impression on the international audience.
Following their SXSW appearance, some of the artists are already making waves internationally. ?te (Whyte) released a new single, “Let Me Be Me,” in collaboration with Japanese musician TENDRE, exploring intergenerational relationships through the lens of a child and a parent. The track will appear on her upcoming album in September. Meanwhile, Enno Cheng has been expanding her presence in Korea, unveiling a new music video for her latest single “Rarely Think of It” filmed in Seoul. She’s also slated to perform at the upcoming Asian Pop Festival in Korea.
