¡Cómo pasa el tiempo! Casi un año después de esta primera crónica, este primer y agradable encuentro con The Akabane Vulgars On Strong Bypass en La Gran Manzana en los inicios del otoño, ahora la emoción me invadió totalmente al saber que Filadelfia estaba dentro de las ciudades de este nueva gira que han abordado una vez más las hermanas Miki y Yumi junto con Kei y bajo la guía de mi amigo John. Muchas millas, muchas carreteras, muchos peajes, pero nuevos lugares que las dejaron asombradas: Florida, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas… Una gira más ambiciosa pero con la satisfacción de tener nuevos fanáticos alegres y extasiados por su rock japonés, el cual con su toque femenino atrae nuestra atención; exótica excusa para no faltar a esta única cita con la música y con la amistad. Y aunque aún estamos en la recta final de un agradable verano en la metrópoli que produjo personajes reales y míticos, percibí ese mismo sentimiento sonoro agradable como si fuera ayer nuestro primer encuentro en el Lit Lounge.
Dos discos son sus cartas de presentación: su nuevo álbum en estudio Proclamation junto con su CD en vivo de su show en Thrash Bar, en el corazón de Brooklyn (New York), lanzados simultáneamente el pasado 19 de abril (disponibles para comprarlos online), me mostraron cuanto progreso ha habido. Especialmente en las hermanas Uchizono cuando me hablan con su mejorado ingles que ya tienen seguidores colombianos y latinoamericanos en sus cuentas de Facebook, Twitter e Instagram.
Con la presentación de las bandas punkeras The Mighty Paradocs (Filadelfia), y los legendarios M.O.T.O. (Chicago) quienes antecedieron su show, las chicas habían arribado a la ciudad luego de su presentación previa en Manhattan (Nueva York) y en Ashbury Park (Nueva Jersey). Lo que en el pasado fue un mausoleo familar para actos fúnebres ahora es un lugar para velar por la cultura y el arte entre Oriente y Occidente, en el que charlas temáticas, cine japonés y música indie en vivo ocurren dentro de las paredes de mármol del PhilaMOCA.
Un listado de 9 temas animaron la noche alrededor de las 10 de la noche del viernes, en los cuales el público disfrutó de los sonidos de la voz de Yumi junto con su gran guitarra blues y mezclados con el cóctel sonoro de la batería de Kei y del bajo enigmático de Miki. Fue tal el agrado de los espectadores que al finalizar su show y en medio de aplausos, silbidos y arengas alegres, la banda retornó al escenario para tocar una canción más, un bonus track: Wanna Be Just What I Wanna Be, el cual la velocidad aumentaba frenéticamente a medida que la audiencia eufórica danzaba sin parar. El resultado: un inolvidable y exitoso show.
Y para The Akabane Vulgars On Strong Bypass la madrugada era solamente el inicio. Hicimos un corto pero divertido recorrido por las calles del centro de Filadelfia a la caza del plato tradicional y famoso de esta ciudad, el cual queda claro que todo visitante debe comerlo durante su estadía: el Philly Cheesteak. Con ayuda de Ed, todos fuimos en caravana a la emblemática South Street a uno de los lugares más tradicionales para degustarlo. Y en verdad las chicas y el propio John se fueron con el sabor de esta ciudad en el que les abrió un espacio para proclamar su grandiosa música que como el rebelde viento recorren sin descanso los Estados Unidos refrescando nuestros oídos. ¡Arigato!
How long time! Almost a year after this my first chronicle, these first and pleasant meeting with The Akabane Vulgars On Strong Bypass in The Big Apple in the early fall. Now, I was overcome with a fully emotion knowing that Philadelphia was within the cities of this new tour that have addressed the sisters Uchizono, Miki and Yumi, with Kei and under the guidance of my friend John. Many miles, many roads, many tolls, but new places where they left astonished: Florida, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas … A most ambitious US tour but with the satisfaction of getting new happy and excited fans by its Japanese rock, which with its touch female caught our attention; an exotic excuse to not missing this unique date with the music and friendship. And although we are in the final stretch of a breezy summer in this metropolis where produced real and mythical characters, I felt that same feeling nice sound like it was yesterday when I remember our first meeting at the Lit Lounge.
Two CDs are their cover letters: her new studio album: Proclamation, and a Live CD of her show at Thrash Bar, in the heart of Brooklyn (New York), released simultaneously on 4/19 (available to buy both online), showed me how much progress has been. When I was speaking with Uchizono sisters, their English have improved and already have Colombians and Latin Americans followers in their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
With the punk bands openers The Mighty Paradocs (Philadelphia), and the legendary M.O.T.O. (Chicago) who preceded their show, the girls had arrived in the city after her previous presentation in Manhattan (New York) and Asbury Park (New Jersey). What in the past was a familiar mausoleum for funeral services is now a place to ensure the culture and art between East and West, with topic conversations, Japanese cinema and indie music live occur within marble walls at PhilaMOCA.
A set-list of 9 items encouraged the Friday evening around 10 pm, in which the audience enjoyed the perfect Yumi’s vocal with her great guitar blues mixed with the cocktail sound by Kei’s drums and Miki’s enigmatic bass. It was such a pleasure to the spectators at the end of their show and amid a lot of applauses, whistles and cheerful speeches, the band returned to the stage to play one more song, a bonus track: Wanna Be Just What I Wanna Be, which speed frantically increased as the euphoric audience danced nonstop. The final result: an unforgettable and successful show.
And for The Akabane Vulgars On Strong Bypass the overnight was only the beginning. We made a short but fun journey through the streets of downtown Philadelphia to hunt the traditional and famous dish of this city, which it is clear that all visitors must eat during their stay: the Philly Cheesteak. With the help of Ed, we all went in convoy to the iconic South Street to one of the most traditional places to enjoy it. And indeed the girls and John himself left Philadelphia with the pleasant flavor which they were welcome to proclaim their great music as the rebel wind touring restlessly America refreshing our ears.
