Entrevistamos a este trío embajador de paz de las tres potencias asiáticas derrochándonos su música electrónica y pop por todo el mundo con un mensaje en contra de la guerra y del odio. – We have interviewed this trio ambassador of peace from the three Asian countries spreading us their electronic and pop music over the world with a message against war and hatred.

SAGA (Super Asian Group) es una semilla musical que germina en medio de las actuales circunstancias que se viven en la región. Una propuesta que busca llevar un mensaje claro: las diferencias deben ser motivos de unión y no de confrontación. En el ámbito internacional, las noticias sobre las relaciones entre los gobiernos de Corea del Sur, China y Japón pasan por un tenso momento debido a ciertas situaciones que han desenterrado disputas del pasado. No obstante, SAGA quiere demostrar que gracias a la música y al arte se puede lograr que estos pueblos puedan convivir en armonía y tolerancia, como hermanos.

SAGA surgió en marzo de este año. Bajo los teclados de Rio (Japón), junto con las voces de Ramy (Corea del Sur) y Kevin (China), este trío ya hizo su primer debut con rotundo éxito el pasado mes de mayo en Indonesia, el cual fueron la imagen publicitaria de un operador de telefonía móvil en ese país insular. Su música impone un estilo electro-pop con mensajes sobre la vida misma pero además en cómo dejar a un lado esas diferencias para convertirse en una sola alma que desea cantar y disfrutar.

Actualmente el grupo está impulsando una gran campaña de crowdfunding de recaudación de fondos para su gran proyecto, llamado simplemente SAGA Project, consistente en la producción de su propio álbum e irse de gira a través de las donaciones hechas por sus fans en China, Corea del Sur y Japón. También poseen su propio canal de videos en Youtube, así como su reciente postulación para tocar en el SXSW 2015 para cumplir con uno de sus sueños, recorrer el mundo con su música. De ese modo, dialogamos con Rio en el que nos narra sus inicios, sus metas y el por qué la unión hace la fuerza para seguir cosechando éxitos.

Colectivo Bunka. ¿Cómo se conocieron y decidieron tocar juntos?

Rio. En estos años nuestra relación entre los 3 países de la región siguió empeorando. Sabemos que no podemos cambiar el país, pero si podemos ser capaces de cambiar el corazón de las personas en nuestros países. Creemos que la música es la gran clave para cambiar el corazón de la gente más allá del idioma. Es por eso que decidimos crear SAGA.

C. B. ¿Cuáles son sus grandes influencias musicales?

Rio. X – Japan & Michael Jackson.

Kevin. Justin Timberlake & Wang Leehom.

Ramy. Desny.

C. B. ¿Qué temas te inspira a componer las canciones?

R. Todo lo relacionado a la vida. Hay cosas que siento que quiero decir en mi vida en este momento y lo inserto en la música. La música en sí es como una película con fondo musical para dar mi mensaje. La música empujará esa emoción dentro de ese mensaje.

C. B. Al parecer, la escena musical asiática se ha hecho cada vez más conocida. ¿Cuál es su opinión respecto a todo esto?

R. Estoy muy contento de que la música asiática se puede escuchar en todo el mundo, pero si ves los Billboard o los Grammy, todavía hay mucha distancia entre las músicas del mundo y la música asiática en el nivel de popularidad. Deseo ver la música asiática en los primeros lugares de las lista musicales del mundo o en los Premios Grammy en el futuro.

C. B. ¿Usted conoce alguna banda o músicos de Latinoamérica? Si no, ¿hay algo que le gustaría saber sobre la música latinoamericana?

R. Solía ​​visitar Cuba y allá están los mejores intérpretes de música de alto nivel de talla mundial en cada instrumento; son increíbles. También siento mucho sentimiento común en la música pop latina, tanto en su código como su melodía. Podría ser capaz de decir que tengo un poco de sangre latina, ya que me siento tan cerca en cuanto a su música.

C. B. La banda hizo su debut en Indonesia. Cuéntanos acerca de esa experiencia.

R. Siento un poco de sentido común entre Indonesia y Latinoamérica. Ambos son felices, positivos, sonrientes y alegres, al menos mucho más que los países del norte. Así que cuando hicimos nuestro primer concierto, sentimos que era como estar en Latinoamérica.

C. B. ¿Cómo ves a la banda en el futuro y qué expectativas tienes?

R. Mi sueño para este grupo fue irnos de gira mundial cuando empezamos, pero nunca imaginé que esto pasaría primero. Ya estamos en el camino hacia una gira mundial, por lo que queremos seguir creciendo en grande más y más hasta que alcanzar un millón de personas totales en el mundo en un año.

C. B. ¿Cuáles son los planes de SAGA para este año?

R. Después de nuestro primer lanzamiento mundial de nuestro álbum debut, nos iremos de viaje con ese álbum a Japón, Corea del Sur, China, Indonesia, Europa, Estados Unidos, otros países asiáticos y por supuesto, nuestro deseo de ir a Latinoamérica. Así que para los organizadores allá, por favor, invítennos a América Latina ¡ya que estamos más que felices y dispuestos a tocar!

C. B. ¿Qué bandas asiáticas le recomendarías a la gente?

R. Mi recomendación personal es por supuesto X-Japan y recientemente tuve un shock con ONE OK ROCK, ya que son simplemente increíbles y excepcionales. Últimamente, hay muy buenos artistas en Corea del Sur y China, que me encantan. Al compararlos, no me emociona realmente lo más reciente de la música japonesa. Nuestro artista japonés necesita esforzarse mucho más para estar al nivel estándar mundial.

C. B. Muchas gracias por atendernos en esta entrevista. ¿Qué te gustaría decirle a todas las personas en Colombia y Latinoamérica?

R. Una vez más, muchas gracias por ofrecernos el placer de ser entrevistados por ustedes. Debo tener sangre latinoamericana en mí. Cada vez que tengo contacto con la música y las culturas de América Latina siento que no puedo dejar de amarlas y también de alguna manera me siento un poco nostálgico. ¡SAGA quiere ir a América Latina! ¡Nos veremos allá este año!

SAGA (Super Asian Group) is a musical seed that germinates in the midst of the current circumstances is living in the region. A proposal that seeks to bring a clearly message: all the differences should be reasons of union instead of confrontation. At the international stage, the latest news about the relations between the Governments of Korea, China and Japan are living a tense time because of certain situations that have unearthed disputes from the past. However, SAGA wants to show that thanks to the music and art can be that these peoples can live together in harmony and tolerance, as brothers.

SAGA appeared in the musical movement on March. Rio (Japan) plays the keyboards and samplers along the voices of Ramy (Korea) and Kevin (China); SAGA already made his first debut with resounding success on May in Indonesia, which was the official advertising image of a cellphone carrier in that island nation. His music imposes an electro-pop style with messages about life itself, but also in how to put aside those differences to become a single soul that want to sing and enjoy.

Currently the group is pushing a major crowdfunding fundraiser for your great idea, called simply SAGA Project, consisting in the production of his own album and going on tour through donations made by his fans in China, in Japan and Korea. They also have their own videos on Youtube and his recent nomination to play at SXSW by 2015 to meet one of his dreams, travel the world with their music as well. In this way, we spoke with Rio who tells the SAGA’s beginnings, their goals and why the union makes the force to continue harvesting success.

Colectivo Bunka. How did you meet and how did you decide to play music together?

Rio. Those years, our 3 countries relationship keeps getting worse. We cannot change country but may be able to change the heart of people in those countries. Music is the great key to change people’s heart beyond the language. That’s why we decide to make SAGA.

C. B. What artists are your biggest musical influences?

Rio. X – Japan & Michael Jackson.

Kevin. Justin Timberlake & Wang Leehom.

Ramy. Desny.

C. B. What topics inspire you to compose your songs?

R. It’s all related life. There are things I feel I want to say in my life at this point I put that in music and music itself is like movie back ground music for my message. Music will push the emotion inside that message.

C. B. Apparently, the Asian music scene has become increasingly popular. What is your opinion on this?

R. I’m really glad that Asian music can be listened in all over the world, but if you see Billboard or Grammy, there still are a lot of distances between world music and Asian music in popularity level. I want to see Asian music go to top chart of the world or Grammy normally.

C. B. Do you know any Latin American bands or musicians?  If not, is there anything you would like to know about Latin American music?

R. I used to visit Cuba and there are world most high level music performers in each instrument. They are amazing. Also I feel many common feeling in Latin pop music, in its code or melody. I might be able to say I have some Latin blood. Since, I feel it so close.

C. B. SAGA made their debut in Indonesia. Tell us about your experienced there.

R. I do feel some common sense between Indonesia and Latin America. They are both happy, positive, more smiles and joy, at least more than northern countries. So, when I first perform in Indonesia, I was feeling like this is Latin America.

C. B. How do you see your band in the future and what expectations do you have?

R. My dream for this group was world tour, when we started, but I never imagine it happen this first. We are already on the way for world tour, so I want to keep it grow bigger and bigger until million people size total in the world in one year.

C. B. Which are SAGA‘s plans for this year?

R. After our release of 1st world debut album, we will travel with that album to Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia, Europe, America, other Asian countries and, of course, LATIN AMERICA I wish. So every organizer in there, please invite us to Latin America and we are more than happy to go!

C. B. What Asian bands would you recommend to the people?

R. My personal recommend for the band is, of course, X-Japan and recently I got big shock from ONE OK ROCK, they are simply amazing and outstanding. There are so many good artists in Korea and China recently, I really loved them. Compare to them, I’m not really exciting in Japanese recent music. We Japanese artist need more effort to be world standard level.

C. B. Thank you very much for this interview. What would you like to transmit to all people out there from Colombia and Latin America?

R. Again, thank you very much for offering us the pleasure to interview you guys. I must have Latin American blood in me. Every time I get touch with Latin America music and cultures I can’t stop loving it and somehow feeling nostalgic too. SAGA wants to go to Latin America!  Let’s meet up there in this year!
