Australian singer-songwriter Kimberley Chen has released her latest album kiki, an album heavily revolving around the themes of sustainability and coexistence of living things in the world. kiki is also the seventh album released by the Mandopop princess, who is based in Taiwan. The title of the album “kiki” is inspired by multiple interpretations of the same word in different contexts. Firstly, Kiki is the main character in Hayao Miyazaki’s Kiki’s Delivery Service, representing a girl who is adorable but has a strong and independent personality, reflecting Kimberley’s own personality.
South Korean indie band SURL is making moves into the Thai music scene with their first-ever Thai single, a Thai rendition of their popular hit song ‘Dry Flower’. SURL’s ‘Dry Flower’, which has over 5.6 million streams on Spotify, now also has a Thai version, made possible with the use of AI technology which has replicated lead singer Seol Ho-seung’s voice in Thai.
Thai singer-songwriter Cupnoodle has announced that she is working on a new EP titled YUM ยำ, and has shown a glimpse of what’s to come with the first single ‘Piece of Mind’. The first single of the upcoming EP, ‘Piece of Mind’, is a bedroom pop, early 2000s R&B track with a slice of drum and bass influence. The song explores emotional and mental well-being, and highlights the importance of mental peace over perfection through candid lyrics and witty melodies.

Thailand has seen its latest star-in-the-making make her debut in the form of super-rookie Pami, a singer-songwriter who has just released her debut EP out of nowhere. Pami is signed to Thai label JUICEY, who is best known for being the label of Thai duo HYBS, which disbanded earlier this year, as well as the solo careers of each member Alyn and Karn. Founded in Malaysia in 2008 while studying at the same university in Selangor, lightcraft have always felt a sense of displacement wherever they were. Seen as a foreign band on Malaysian soil, they persevered and persisted to the point where they achieved modest success in a country far from home. When they returned to Jakarta in 2013, they faced the same predicament: they were aliens in their own backyard.
After more than two decades sharing the stage, as background singer for The Upstairs, co-vocalist of Goodnight Electric, and vocalist or Bite, Rebecca Theodora is now ready to face the spotlight as a solo artist — marked by the release of «Malaise» as her first single. First written in 2016, undergoing lyric changes in 2017, and a new arrangement finalised when the global pandemic broke out, “Malaise” embodies Rebecca’s musical sensibilities that have continued to develop over the years.
