The flirtatious new single is MEMI’s first release of 2024, coming after her first EP M3MI, which was released in December 2023. Earlier this year, MEMI also had a fruitful year, performing her first show in the United States this March at SXSW 2024 as part of JADED’s “FRIENDS:FOREVER” showcase. She will next be playing at the Incheon Pentaport Music Festival this August in South Korea, as well as feature in other major festivals around Asia in the later half of 2024.
The music video for «Renacer Serenade» by Momoiro Clover Z is now released on their official YouTube channel. The music video is inspired by a retro-exotic theme, featuring the members in vintage-like costumes, and a string and percussion band with cheerful dancers, all on their way to their joyful adventure along their music and song. This MV was shot in a single-take, making full use of a 360-degree camera capturing all the surroundings. Enjoy the sense of being there, and the tensions of performers under the conditions of a single-take video. Make sure to watch it until the end, where the members “reincarnate” through a door.

Australian singer-songwriter Kimberley Chen has released her latest album kiki, an album heavily revolving around the themes of sustainability and coexistence of living things in the world. kiki is also the seventh album released by the Mandopop princess, who is based in Taiwan. The title of the album “kiki” is inspired by multiple interpretations of the same word in different contexts. Firstly, Kiki is the main character in Hayao Miyazaki’s Kiki’s Delivery Service, representing a girl who is adorable but has a strong and independent personality, reflecting Kimberley’s own personality.
South Korean indie band SURL is making moves into the Thai music scene with their first-ever Thai single, a Thai rendition of their popular hit song ‘Dry Flower’. SURL’s ‘Dry Flower’, which has over 5.6 million streams on Spotify, now also has a Thai version, made possible with the use of AI technology which has replicated lead singer Seol Ho-seung’s voice in Thai.

Thailand has seen its latest star-in-the-making make her debut in the form of super-rookie Pami, a singer-songwriter who has just released her debut EP out of nowhere. Pami is signed to Thai label JUICEY, who is best known for being the label of Thai duo HYBS, which disbanded earlier this year, as well as the solo careers of each member Alyn and Karn. The label also represents Thai band TELEX TELEXs.

Home is where the heart is. But it was never that simple for Jakarta-based anthemic contemporary pop band lightcraft. Founded in Malaysia in 2008 while studying at the same university in Selangor, lightcraft have always felt a sense of displacement wherever they were. Seen as a foreign band on Malaysian soil, they persevered and persisted to the point where they achieved modest success in a country far from home. When they returned to Jakarta in 2013, they faced the same predicament: they were aliens in their own backyard.
