LogBook Bunka del concierto privado realizado por Blood para todos sus fans en la ciudad de Philadelphia dentro de su gira de promoción internacional de sus dos trabajos discográficos. – Logbook Bunka about the private concert performed by Blood to all his fans in the city of Philadelphia, on the international promotional tour of his two albums.

Una torrencial lluvia de otoño con temperaturas invernales no espantó a los fans de Philadelphia para presenciar un concierto privado de los japoneses Blood, en su sexta gira por Estados Unidos, siendo banda invitada para Anime USA, la más importante convención de anime y manga en el estado de Virginia y de la ciudad de Washington D.C., en el que además en dicho evento cerraron su exitosa gira, que empezó el pasado 12 de noviembre en Toronto (Canadá), luego tocaron en Boston y tuvieron dos shows especiales en New York. Sin duda, sus seguidores recibieron una gran dosis de visual kei con dark en sus letras y su sonido.

El lugar parecía idóneo para estos músicos en su paso por esta urbe estadounidense, famosa por la Campana de la Libertad y la imagen de Rocky Balboa: Digital Ferret, una tienda de discos localizada en el emblemático barrio de South Street (centro de la ciudad), donde los sonidos exóticos del visual kei, gothic, dark, electro e industrial de diferentes partes del mundo, especialmente europeos confluyen en un ambiente propicio de encuentro para los dispersos amantes de lo underground. La verdad, me impresioné mucho por este lugar, ya que nunca pensé ver sitio semejante en esta urbe a orillas del Rio Delaware, dominada en su gran mayoría por seguidores del rap y del hip hop, y en el caso de los latinos residentes, bachata dominicana y reggaetón portorriqueño. Por ello, este lugar me pareció un escondido y valioso oasis musical en medio del agitado ruido.

Kiwamu, su guitarrista y director de Starwave Records me estaba esperando. Luego de la presentación con los demás integrantes, a cargo de él y de su manager en Estados Unidos, Roger Shackelford (Tainted Reality), proseguimos a la entrevista. El tiempo estaba a nuestro favor. Cabe señalar que el resto de la banda no hablaba ingles, por lo que Kiwamu fue su vocero y traductor. Poco a poco, las palabras empezaron a emerger para ser capturadas por la grabadora. Hayato (vocalista), Dora (batería) y Kazuha (bajo) nos contaron sobre sus inicios en el 2002 cuando se reunieron a componer canciones en su natal Osaka, para después mudarse a Tokio, su actual residencia. Luego, nos contaron sobre la importancia de esta gira promocional de sus dos trabajos discográficos: Bathory y Elizabeth, cada uno compuesto por un CD más DVD, en el que se siente una gran descarga en sus guitarras y buenas dosis de oscuridad en su puesta en vivo, el cual puedes adquirirlo online entrando a su web oficial.

Latinoamérica no es ajena a ellos. Aunque no conocen nada de nuestra región, salvo Kiwamu quien recordó con los anteriores miembros sus presentaciones en México y Argentina hace 4 años, todos coincidieron que el fútbol y la música de Brasil (samba y bossa nova) les atraen mucho su interés en nosotros.

Kiwamu recordó que el concierto más inolvidable fue precisamente su gira con La Fleur Du Mal en USA, especialmente en California ya que fue su primer acercamiento con un público no japonés, quienes lograron ganar nuevos adeptos, sintiéndose agradecidos por esa acogida. Por ello, consideran que el movimiento musical del visual kei sigue consolidándose cada día en Norteamérica.

Luego de 20 minutos de entrevista, se despidieron en un aceptable español para Colectivo Bunka esperando volver a tocar en otros países de Latinoamérica, especialmente Colombia, ya que Hayato le gusta el café colombiano. Luego de un par de minutos el recinto estuvo lleno y la banda empezó a tocar algunas canciones de tanto de sus dos álbumes como de sus trabajos anteriores por espacio de una hora aproximadamente. Lo que me llamó la atención es que Digital Ferret es la única tienda de discos que vende y distribuye de manera exclusiva no sólo a Blood sino a todas las bandas adscritas a los sellos Starwave Records y Darkest Labyrinth, donde pude encontrar discos de artistas como Suicide Ali o Mirasuka. También encuentro la banda favorita de Kiwamu en esta tienda, se trata de los mexicanos Hocico, influencias fuertes de la banda.

Luego de su especial presentación, sus fanáticos interactuaron con cada uno de ellos en sesiones de fotos y firma de autógrafos así como su apoyo adquiriendo el material musical. Una espera que nos demostró que esta gran banda sigue firme en consolidarse como una agrupación que representa el actual visual kei, por lo que valió la pena su visita en Philadelphia.

A torrential rain fall with winter temperatures are not scared of Philadelphia fans to witness a private concert by the Japanese Blood, in its sixth U.S. tour, with guest band for Anime USA, the largest anime and manga convention in the Virginia State and Washington D.C., which also closed in the event a successful tour, which began on November 12^th in Toronto (Canada), then played in Boston and had two special shows in New York. No doubt, his followers received a great deal of visual kei with their dark lyrics and sound.

The place seemed ideal for these musicians on their way across this American city, famous for the Liberty Bell and the monument of Rocky Balboa: Digital Ferret, a record store located in the picturesque district of South Street (Center City), where the exotic sounds of the visual kei, gothic, dark, electro & industrial around the world, especially Europeans together in an environment conducive to meeting the fans scattered underground. Really, I was very impressed by this venue because I never see such a site in this city along the Delaware River, dominated mostly by followers of rap and hip hop, and in the case of Latino residents, Dominican bachata & Puerto Rican reggaeton. Therefore, this place I found a hidden and valuable musical oasis in the middle of the bustling noise.

Kiwamu, guitarist and director of Starwave Records was waiting. After the introduction with other members, by him and his manager in the U.S., Roger Shackelford (Tainted Reality), we proceed to the interview. Time was in our favor. Note that the rest of the band did not speak English, so Kiwamu was a spokesperson and translator. Gradually the words began to emerge to be captured by the recorder. Hayato (vocals), Dora (drums) and Kazuha (bass) told us about his beginnings in 2002 when they met to write songs in his native Osaka, and then move to Tokyo, his current residence. Then told us about the importance of this tour for his two maxi-singles: Elizabeth and Bathory, each one is composed of a CD plus DVD, which feels a download on their guitars and a good deal of darkness in its live performs, which can be purchased online checking it out their official website.

Latin America is no stranger to them. Although they don’t know nothing of our region, except Kiwamu who recalled former members their presentations in Mexico and Argentina 4 years ago, everyone agreed that soccer and Brazilian music (samba and bossa nova) are attracted much interest in us.

Kiwamu recalled that the most memorable concert was precisely his tour with La Fleur Du Mal in America, especially in California as it was his first contact with non-Japanese audiences, who they got to gain new followers, feeling grateful for that host. Therefore, they consider the visual kei music movement continues to consolidate every day in America.

After 20 minutes of interview, Blood said goodbye in some Spanish words for Colectivo Bunka waiting to return to play in other countries in Latin America, especially Colombia, as Hayato likes Colombian coffee. After a couple of minutes the room was full and the band started playing some songs from both of its two albums but also, they played of previous work for about an hour. What caught my attention is that Digital Ferret is the only record store that sells and distributes exclusive Blood not only but to all the bands assigned to stamps Starwave Records & Darkest Labyrinth, where I could find records of artists such as Suicide Ali or Mirasuka. I also find Kiwamu’s favorite band on this store, this is the Mexican Hocico, strong influences of the band.

After his special show, fans interacted with each of them in photo shoots and autograph signing sessions as well as support for the musical material, buying it. One wait we showed that this great band still strongly established itself as a group that represents the current visual kei scene, so it was worth visiting in Philadelphia.
