Hablamos con los integrantes de la agrupación japonesa Dazzle Vision, quienes nos presentan sus influencias metaleras para Occidente. – We spoke with members of the J-band Dazzle Vision, who present their Metal influences to West.

Hace más de 6 años Maiko y Takuro, dos hermanos amantes del Metal empezaron a crear Dazzle Vision en la búsqueda de experimentar combinaciones musicales jamás pensadas. Así, su álbum debut Origin of Dazzle, fue lanzado en noviembre de ese año pero además la banda empezó su primera gira internacional en la isla de Taiwan, tocando 10 domingos seguidos desde abril de 2006 en diferentes bares y pequeños festivales. Cuatro años después, la banda renace con un radical cambio en su alineación generando un nuevo estilo llamado Screamo Pop, resultado de melodías hardcore mezcladas con pop y scream, cimentando las bases de su propia identidad musical a partir de géneros musicales que parecieran no tener nada en común. En este nuevo renacer de Dazzle Vision, Maiko nos deja entrever que bajo la superficie de su feminidad se esconde un espíritu agresivo manifestándose en sus voces guturales de ultratumba; las cuerdas principales están a cargo de John quien le impone el ritmo, junto con la batería de Haru y el bajo de Takuro para conformar este cuarteto que ha llamado la atención de sus fans y de la critica especializada. En este verano, Dazzle Vision se encuentra de gira por todo el país, a raíz de su reciente disco en vivo llamado Shocking Loud Voice lanzado el pasado 4 de mayo de este año por Human Noise Records, en el que al cierre de estas líneas la banda se estará dirigiendo a Nagoya. A pesar de su apretada agenda, sus miembros sacaron un pequeño tiempo para responder nuestras preguntas, en las que desean regresar a tocar a los Estados Unidos (habían tocado en el Sakura-Con en el 2010 en la ciudad de Seattle), sus influencias musicales y su admiración por los brasileños Sepultura.

Colectivo Bunka. Muchas gracias por aceptar esta entrevista para Colombia y América Latina. Es un honor para nosotros. Brevemente cuéntanos, ¿cómo nació la idea de tocar juntos?

Maiko. Takuro, el bajista,  es mi hermano y juntos comenzamos Dazzle Vision cuando él me pidió que lo acompañara. Después de pasar por algunos cambios en la alineación, empezamos a tocar con los miembros actuales desde octubre de 2010.

C. B. ¿Cuáles son sus mayores influencias musicales?

Maiko. Todos tenemos gustos diferentes, pero mis influencias personales son de bandas como System Of A Down, Story Of The Year, The Used, Slipknot y Luna Sea.

C. B. ¿Qué temas los inspiran para componer las canciones de la banda?

Takuro. En realidad no tenemos temas específicos que nos inspiren para escribir las canciones, solo llegan de forma aleatoria y libre.

C. B. ¿Cómo fue su experiencia tocando en  los Estados Unidos, en el Sakura-Con 2010?

Maiko. Fue la primera vez que tocábamos en los Estados Unidos, pero fue increíble ver el lugar lleno con más de 4.000 personas. Personalmente, me gusta el anime mucho, así que disfrutamos todo el evento en sí. La pasamos muy bien. Nos gustaría volver a tocar con la actual alineación la próxima vez en los Estados Unidos, ya que tuvimos que tocar con un guitarrista de gira en aquel entonces.

C. B. ¿A qué género musical pertenece su música?

Maiko. Es un poco difícil de definir nuestro género, pero nos categorizan como Screamo Pop.

C. B. ¿Qué creen ustedes sobre el concepto de sus videos musicales?

Maiko. Quisimos ser los más intensos e impactantes posible para el álbum Second, así que tratamos de tocar tan duro como lo hacemos en nuestros shows para el vídeo. Es difícil de entender lo que dices cuando estás gritando, así que pusimos la letra en el video y dejar que la gente sepa que en realidad estoy cantando en japonés. Hemos trabajado mucho en nuestro equipo. Me gusta mucho el video.

C. B. Brevemente, cuéntenos sobre su nuevo álbum Shocking Loud Voice, cómo fue el trabajo de la banda para este álbum y cuáles son sus expectativas.

Maiko. Nuestro principal objetivo para este año era tocar en conciertos, y el concepto de Shocking Loud Voice es el se muestra como tal. Queríamos que nuestros fans fueran a nuestros conciertos después de escuchar este álbum. Nuestros espectáculos son grandiosos; por favor vengan cuando tengan una oportunidad.

C. B. ¿Conocen o saben de alguna banda o algún músico latinoamericano? (Si su respuesta es no, ¿qué les gustaría saber de América Latina sobre su música?)

Haru. Sepultura de Brasil ¡Me encanta!

C. B. ¿Qué banda japonesa en la actualidad nos puedes recomendar?

Haru. Me gustaría recomendar Dazzle Vision 🙂

C. B. ¿Cuáles son sus planes para este año?

Maiko. Vamos a tener nuestro propio evento el próximo mes de octubre. En noviembre vamos a estar haciendo un show titular en Nagoya nuevamente y otro en Tokio en diciembre. Vamos a poner todas nuestras energías a estos conciertos. Esperamos que sea una explosión musical grandiosa para pasar a recibir un gran año nuevo.

C. B. Nuevamente, muchas gracias por esta entrevista y me gustaría que nos enviaran un saludo a nuestros seguidores en Colombia y Latinoamérica.

Maiko. Gracias por todo su apoyo. Me pregunto cuántos de sus seguidores conocen y les gusten nuestra música. Nos encantaría ir a un concierto y conocer a todos ustedes en persona. Por favor, vengan a vernos cuando puedan.

A 6 years ago Maiko & Takuro, two brothers who love Metal music founded Dazzle Vision to the pursuit of musical combinations never thought experiment. Thus, their debut album Origin of Dazzle was released in November of that year but also the band began its first international tour in the island of Taiwan, playing 10 Sundays without stop since April 2006 in various bars and small festivals. Four years later, the band reborn with a radical change in its line-up generated a new style called Screamo Pop, result of Hardcore melodies mixed with Pop and Scream, laying the roots of their own musical identity from musical genres that seem to have nothing in common. In this new revival of Dazzle Vision, Maiko show us that beneath the surface of her femininity conceals an aggressive spirit manifested in her guttural voices from beyond the grave, the main strings are run by John who imposes the rhythm, along with Haru in the drums and Takuro like as bassist to form the quartet that has caught the attention of their fans and the critics. This summer, Dazzle Vision is touring around the country, following their latest album called Shocking Loud Voice, released on May 4^th by Human Noise Records, which at the end of these lines the band will be heading to Nagoya. Despite their busy schedule, its members took a little break to answer our questions, on which they wish to play back to the United States (they had played at Sakura-Con in 2010 in the city of Seattle), their musical influences and their admiration for the Brazilian band Sepultura.

C. B. Thank you very much to attend us in this interview for Colombia and Latin America. Tell us (briefly), how did you met to play together?

Maiko. Takuro on bass is my brother, and we started Dazzle Vision together when he asked me to join him. After going through some changes in the line-up, we started to play with the current members since October 2010.

C. B. What are your biggest music influences?

Maiko. We all have different tastes, but my personal influences are from bands like System of a Down, Story of the Year, The Used, Slipknot and Luna Sea.

C. B. What topics inspire to compose the songs?

Takuro. We actually don’t have specific topics that inspire us to write the songs, they just come up randomly.

C. B. How was your experience playing in the United States? (Sakura-Con 2010)

Maiko. It was the first time ever we played in the United States, but it was amazing to see the venue packed with more than 4,000 people. I personally like anime a lot so I enjoyed the whole event itself as well. We had a great time. We’d like to play with the full line-up next time, as we had to play with a tour guitarist back then.

C. B. What musical genre that belongs to your music?

Maiko. It’s kind of hard to define our genre, but we categorize ourselves as Screamo Pop.

C. B. What are you think about the concept of their music videos?

Maiko. We tried to be as intense and shocking as possible for the album Second, so we tried to play as hard as we do in our shows for the video. It’s hard to understand what you’re saying when you’re shouting, so we put the lyrics in the video as well to let the people know that I’m actually singing in Japanese. We worked hard on our outfit as well. I really like the video.

C. B. Briefly, tell us about the new album Shocking Loud Voice, as was the work of the band for this album and have expectations.

Maiko. Our main focus for this year was to play shows, and the concept of Shocking Loud Voice is the shows itself. We wanted our fans to come over to our shows after listening to this album. Our shows are great, please come over when you have a chance.

C. B. Did you know or did you hear any Latin America band or musician? (If your answer is no, what would you like to know of Latin America about your music?)

Haru. I really like Sepultura from Brazil!

C. B. What Japanese band currently we can recommend?

Haru. I’d recommend Dazzle Vision 🙂

C. B. What are your plans for this year?

Maiko. We will be hosting our own event on October. In November we will be doing a headline show in Nagoya, and another one in Tokyo in December. We’ll put all our energies to these shows. We hope they will be a blast, so we can move on to a great new year.
