Desde Seúl, dialogamos con A-Prince quienes nos contaron sus sueños, sus gustos y su deseo de tocar y conocer Latinoamérica. – From Seoul, we spoke with A-Prince who told us about their dreams, hobbies, and wishes to play and tour Latin America.

La escena K-Pop se renueva constantemente. Y a A-Prince parece disfrutarlo. Este quinteto debutó por primera vez en el año 2012 de las cenizas de Taken con sus tres integrantes originales: Sungwon, Minhyunk y Seungjun, y dos nuevos miembros muy jóvenes que rondan los 18 años: Woobin y Siyoon. Desde entonces, el quinteto ha tenido un éxito ascendente en el extranjero ya que con la canción You’re the Only One, compuesta por G.O. y Mir del famoso grupo MBLAQ, ganaron nuevo seguidores. Es tal su éxito que los premios y reconocimientos en su país como Mejor Cantante Revelación (K-Pop Rising Singer Awards, 2012), el Rookie Award (2013) entre otros, catapultaron a A-Prince a presentarse en grandiosos conciertos realizados en Singapur y Japón, donde la prensa no guarda elogios.
Desde la capital coreana, A-Prince hizo una pausa en su apretada agenda para dialogar en exclusiva con un medio latinoamericano en el que ellos están deseosos de poder presentarse algún día en nuestro continente y de paso conocer nuestra cultura, y (¿por qué no?) realizar versiones de canciones en español y coreano. Así mismo, nos abrieron sus puertas para realmente conocer a un grupo de jóvenes que sueñan a lo grande, que disfrutan de realizar hobbies y de continuar llevando su música y su alegría a todos sus fans en cualquier parte del mundo, en el cual nos dejaron este emotivo saludo en español.
Colectivo Bunka. Ustedes son un grupo muy joven en la escena K-pop, ¿cómo fueron sus inicios?
Minhyuk. Yo tenía 19 años cuando quería ser cantante por primera vez, incluso antes de que yo estuviera metido en la música ya quería actuar algún día en los escenarios.
Woobin. Empecé muy joven en la industria musical. A los 11 años era un niño actor. Cuando tenía 16 años después de ver a los ídolos de baile en la televisión también comencé a soñar con convertirme en uno de ellos.
Sungwon. Tenía 14 años cuando vi la actuación de TVXQ cantando Hug. Creo que ese fue el comienzo cuando soñé en convertirme en cantante.
Siyoon. Tenía 15 años cuando me estaba preparando para participar en un concurso de talentos. Me di cuenta de que no sólo quería hacer covers de canciones, sino cantar mis propios temas.
Seungjun. Cuando realmente comencé a interesarme en la música tenía tal vez 12 años. Al ver cantantes famosos que actuaban en el escenario también me dieron ganas de cantar y actuar como ellos, por lo que empecé a seguir mi sueño.
C. B. ¿Quiénes son sus mayores influencias musicales?
My. El rapero Benzino. Él me da la motivación para el rap.
Wb. Wheesung porque él tiene su propio estilo y color en el canto.
Sw. Michael Bolton porque me gusta el rock y el género balada.
Sy. Eric Benet por su estilo y su música.
Sj. Me gusta Taeyang porque tiene un encanto fuerte como músico y sus actuaciones son realmente geniales.
C. B. A principios de este año, A-Prince presentó su nuevo sencillo llamado Yes or Not. Cuéntennos un poco de una canción.
My. Yes or Not es nuestra primera canción con un concepto muy varonil. Como ustedes saben llevamos el concepto brillante, lindo y amable del grupo. De hecho, eso me encanta. Y personalmente es mi canción favorita entre nuestros temas.
Sw. Es bueno saber que muchos fans les gusta porque realmente no promovemos la canción. Solamente la lanzamos para nuestros fans como un regalo antes de que hiciéramos nuestro regreso para Kiss Scene.
C. B. Los fans desean saber más como, ¿qué tipos de actividades realizan?
My. Ver películas e ir de compras.
Wb. Me gusta ir de compras y coleccionar gorras y zapatos.
Sw. Navegar por Internet y conducir a cualquier lado.
Sy. Me encanta comer.
Sj. Me encanta ir a pasear, ir de compras y jugar en línea.
C. B. ¿Y cuáles son sus películas y platos favoritos? [Nota: Bibimbap es un plato típico coreano. Significa “arroz mezclado” y está acompañado por verduras sazonadas y sofritas, pasta de chile, soya y carne en rodajas o huevo frito.]
My. Me gustan las secuelas de Harry Potter. También me gusta comer bibimbap y los callos de ternera.
Wb. A mí me gusta Iron Man. En cuanto a la comida, adoro el pollo.
Sw. Spiderman. Y las chuletas de cerdo.
Sy. Me gusta la película coreana Harmony, y disfruto de la pizza y el pollo.
Sj. Avengers. Me encantan las bolas de arroz y el tofú frito.
C. B. ¿Cuál es su opinión acerca de la escena del K-pop en todo el mundo por estos días?
My. Creo que es una buena oportunidad para nosotros poder mostrarle al mundo sobre Corea del Sur. Intentamos trabajar más fuerte a través del K-Pop por lo que además estamos aportando con nuestro trabajo.
Sj. Nos sentimos muy orgullosos. Es bueno saber que muchas personas disfrutan de nuestra música y la escuchan. Y ser parte de ello es realmente un honor.
C. B. ¿Cuál ha sido su experiencia llevada a cabo en Japón y Singapur?
My. Realmente es como estar en casa; nuestros fans nos dan la bienvenida cada vez que los visitamos, realmente muy bueno. ¡Queremos ir otra vez!
Wb. Tengo buenos recuerdos de Japón y Singapur. Nuestros fans se portan muy bien con nosotros.
Sw. Ambos lugares son muy refrescantes. Quiero visitarlos una y otra vez. Y por supuesto, nuestros fans son muy, pero muy agradables.
Sy. Japón fue el primer país en el que tuvimos nuestro primer concierto y Singapur también fue nuestra primera visita a Asia Suroriental. Ambas naciones son realmente significativas para nosotros.
Sj. Al igual que lo que dijeron mis compañeros, tenemos muy buenos y amorosos fans en Japón y en Singapur, así que es como estar en casa. Siempre disfrutamos nuestras visitas en ambos países.
C. B. ¿Conocen alguna banda o músicos de Latinoamérica? Si no, ¿hay algo que les gustarían saber sobre la música latinoamericana?
My. Conozco a una banda llamada Rake, pero no estoy seguro de que sean famosos.
Sy. Conozco algunos cantantes latinos famosos como Shakira, Ricky Martin, Jennifer López.
Sw. Conozco a Enrique Iglesias.
Wb. Creo que la música latina tiene esa energía apasionada. Pienso que es muy interesante.
Sj. Nos gustaría producir un cover con algunas canciones hechas por músicos latinos si nos dan una oportunidad.
C. B. ¿Qué artistas coreanos me recomendarían para que la gente los escuche?
My. Por supuesto, A-Prince. (Risas). Y también a Benzino.
Wb. ¡A-Prince! Y a Wheesung. (Risas).
Sw. ¡A-Prince! ^^. Pero también a Lim Jaebum; la gente de otros países también encontrará atractiva su voz.
Sy. A-Prince y Kim Taewoo.
Sj. A-Prince, por supuesto; y a Taeyang.
C. B. ¿Cuál es su mayor sueño?
My. Convertirme en un productor y compositor.
Wb. Actor.
Sw. Ser un MC; un actor y un cantante que pudiera tocar el corazón de la gente.
Sy. Actor musical, actor de cine, de teatro y director.
Sj. Cantante, compositor y actor.
C. B. ¿Qué mensaje les darían a los fans de la música alrededor del mundo?
A-P. Esperamos que disfrute de la música tanto como nosotros. La música son muchas cosas. Es otro idioma en que todos podemos comunicarnos. En cualquier momento la música también podría llenar tu alma, no importa el sentimiento que tengas. ¡Disfruta la música!

The K-Pop music scene is constantly renewed. And A-Prince seems to enjoy it. This quintet debuted in 2012 from the ashes of Taken with three original members: Sungwon, Minhyunk and Seungjun, plus two new very young members who are around 18 years old: Woobin and Siyoon. Since then, they have had a rising success abroad with the song You’re the Only One, composed by G.O. and Mir (MBLAQ), getting new followers. Their successful is so growing up that the awards and recognitions in their country such as Best Singer Revelation (Rising K-Pop Singer Awards, 2012), the Rookie Award (2013) among others, catapulted to A-Prince to perform at grand concerts in Singapore and Japan, where the press does not save praise.
Since the Korean capital city, A-Prince made a break in his busy schedule to talk exclusively with a Latin American media, which they are excited to play and tour in a future in Latin America, but also know our Latino culture, and (why not?) performing cover songs in Spanish and Korean. Also, they opened their souls to actually meet a group of young people who wanting big dreams, enjoying hobbies and performing their music to continue bringing joy to all their fans anywhere in the world. A-Prince left us this greeting in Spanish.
Colectivo Bunka. You are a young group in the K-pop music scene, how were your inceptions to work for this project together?
Minhyuk. I was 19 years old when I first wanted to become a singer. Although even before that I was already into music and wanted to perform on stage one day.
Woobin. I started really young in the industry. I was a child actor when I was 11 years old. When I was 16 after seeing idols dancing on TV I also started to dream of becoming one.
Sungwon. I was 14 years old when I saw TVXQ’s performance of their song Hug. I think that was the start when I dream of becoming a singer.
Siyoon. I was 15 when I was preparing to join a talent show. I realized that I did not just want to make a cover of a song but I wanted to sing my own song.
Seungjun. I was maybe 12 years old when I really started to get interested into music. Seeing famous singers performing on stage made me also want to perform just like them so I started to follow my dream.
C. B. Who are your biggest musical influences? [Note: sumbaenim is a Korean word that describes a superior or master individual in any skills, arts and tutoring. It’s a formal and polite expression to say Mr. or Mrs.]
My. Rapper Benzino sunbaenim. He gives motivation to rap.
Wb. Wheesung sunbaenim because he has his own style and color in singing.
Sw. Michael Bolton sunbaenim because I like rock and ballad genre.
Sy. Eric Benet sunbaenim because if his style and music.
Sj. I like Taeyang sunbaenim because he has strong charm as musician and his performances are really great.
C. B. Earlier this year, A-Prince released his new single called Yes or No. Tell us a little bit of a song.
My. Yes or No is our first song with a very manly concept. As you know we go with the bright, cute, friendly concept as a group. I actually like it very much. And personally it’s my favorite song among our songs.
Sw. It is great to know that many fans like it because we actually did not really promote the song. We just released it for our fans as a gift before we had our comeback for “Kiss Scene”
C. B. For their worldwide fans, who want to know more about you, what kind of activities like group members?
My. Watching movies and shopping.
Wb. I like shopping, collecting caps and shoes.
Sw. Surfing on Internet and driving somewhere.
Sy. I love eating.
Sj. I love going for a walk, shopping, and online games.
C. B. And, what are your favorite movies and food? [Note: bibimbap is a popular Korean dish and means “mixed rice” sautéed and seasoned with vegetables, chili pepper paste, soy sauce and sliced beef or fried egg.]
My. I like Harry Potter series. I like bibimbap and beef tripe.
Wb. I like Iron Man. For food, I like chicken.
Sw. Spiderman and pork cutlet.
Sy. I like the Korean movie Harmony. I like pizza and chicken.
Sj. Avengers. I love fried tofu rice balls.
C. B. What’s your opinion about the K-pop scene around the world these days?
My. I think it is a good chance for us to show the world about Korea. We will try to work hard more through K-Pop so that we could also do our part.
Sj. We’re really proud of it. It’s good to know that many people enjoy our music and listen to it. And being part of it is really an honor.
C. B. What has been your experience performing in Japan and Singapore?
My. It actually also feels like home. Our fans welcomes us every time we visit so it really good. We want to go again.
Wb. I only have good memories of Japan and Singapore. Our fans are really good to us.
Sw. Both are very refreshing places. I want to visit again and again. And oh our fans there are really really nice.
Sy. Japan was the first country we had our first showcase and concert and Singapore was also our first visit to Southeast Asia. Bothe countries are really meaningful to us.
Sj. Just like what they said we have very nice and loving fans in Japan and Singapore so it’s like home. We always enjoy our visits over there.
C. B. Do you know any Latin American bands or musicians? If not, is there anything you would like to know about Latin American music?
My. I know a band called Rake but I am not sure if they are famous.
Sy. I know many some famous Latin singers like Shakira, Ricky Martin, and Jennifer Lopez.
Sw. I know Enrique Iglesias.
Wb. I think Latin music has this very passionate vibe. I think it’s very interesting.
Sj. We would like to make a cover some songs made by Latin musicians if we’ll be given a chance.
C. B. What Korean artists do you recommend that people listen to?
My. Of course, A-Prince! (LOL). And also, Benzino sunbaenim.
Wb. A-Prince!! And Wheesung sunbaenim (LOL).
Sw. A-Prince ^^ and Lim Jaebum sunbaenim. I think people from other countries will also find his voice appealing.
Sy. A-Prince and Kim Taewoo sunbaenim.
Sj. A-Prince of course, and Taeyang sunbaenim.
C. B. What is your biggest dream?
My. Become a producer, composer.
Wb. An actor.
Sw. MC, actor, a singer who could touch people’s heart.
Sy. Musical actor, movie-drama actor, director.
Sj. Singer, composer, actor.
C. B. What message do you have for music fans around the world?
A-P. We hope you enjoy music as much as we do. Music is a lot of things. It is even another language that we all could communicate. At any time music could also fill your soul no matter what your feeling is. Enjoy music!
